About Your Coach

Growing up I learned that I was happiest and most comfortable the more different I looked…

I was born in Germany and I grew up in Taiwan, where I went to an international school that hosted around 50 nations at that time and I spoke German, English, Chinese and later Spanish daily. This formed the core of my multicultural comfort zone very early on. After graduating, I moved back to Germany on my own to earn a Business Degree – and discovered the challenge of looking like everyone else in my “passport country”. Over time, I have worked in Taiwan, Mainland China, France, the UK, and Austria, and I’ve enjoyed a successful 15-year career in sales, marketing and product management within the Bosch Group. Throughout my career, I’ve worked within multicultural teams spread around the globe and enjoyed using my cross-cultural and transitional skills mixed with a good dose of humor in all of these endeavors. I call myself “homeful” for the many places I can call home.

Time for Change…

In 2010, I embraced the opportunity to completely recreate my path and moved to Michigan, USA, as an “expat partner”. Just 4 weeks after the plane landed, I began my first coach training. Further trainings and certifications as well as many new connections enabled an immersion in the wonderful new world of coaches and coaching. In 2012 I founded TeamEssenz Coaching & Development.

My many own transitions have taught me when to blend in, when to stand out and when to not fit in at all! I follow a personal motto and strong belief that being different is very ok and diversity is an asset. My own personal intercultural experiences led to adeptness at recognizing intercultural dynamics and created the guiding principle of  “don’t expect yourself to be – allow yourself to become.”

My Approach
to Coaching

As a coach, I follow a holistic approach and co-active form of coaching which I also implement in training and facilitation. My aim is to create a deep connection to my clients – the leaders, the global travelers, the teams – which guides to uncover, explore, and deep dive into aspirations, values, and motivation, while facilitating the discovery of competencies and thought processes. I strive to create a space of awareness, for the self and for what is beyond, allowing that awareness to open up for shifts in mindset and habits. I assist and embolden my clients to grow, develop and deepen their learning to create real and lasting change. My role as a coach is to be a place of trust, deep listening, non-judgement, and encouragement, and to be the accountability partner needed to maintain motivation to reaching the goals set.

My goal is to be the fearless coach that inspires clients to be fearless, bold, and authentic as they explore, create and grow. As a coach find joy in asking the really hard questions, nudging clients out of their comfort zone, and being the place of encouraged growth.

Current & Past
Engagements

A few things I've done

I am currently serving on the Board of Directors of AWAF, the Automotive Women’s Alliance Foundation of Michigan, as the Coaching Program Co-Chair. I am an active member of the ICF (International Coaching Federation) and have served on the board of the ICF Michigan Charter Chapter, including as president in 2014, as well as a member of the ICF Midwest Regional Advisory Council.

As part of an engagement with the Oakland University Incubator and SmartZone Business Accelerator I had the opportunity to work as a Global Business Coach, working with start-ups and growth companies specializing in alternative energy, medical devices, health science, advanced manufacturing, and advanced technology innovations.

My clients are in the manufacturing, automotive, and health/wellness industries, both for-profit and non-profit. An additional passion of mine, and as part of giving what would once have aided my own expat transition, I work with expat partners around the globe in their endeavor to recreate their path as I once have.

A Few Tidbits
About Me...

I still speak German, English, Chinese, Spanish, and at one time added “en lille smule” Danish to the mix. I enjoy the intercultural exchange and the opportunities in it, travelling for the changes in perspectives and the different foods, triathlons for the challenge, yoga for the grounding it brings to life, and dining with friends for the connections so very important for the human soul.

I am very passionate about animal welfare, inspiring me to become vegan and I have a deep love for cats – rescues, strays and ferals who have taught me much about the art of listening, curiosity, building trust, and yes, coaching.
